What is

What is?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I know, strange title, right?  “What is”, is a new category I’m creating for the site.  The idea is simple, I’ll be adding content based on the phrase ‘What is [x]’, such as: ‘What is Docker?’, ‘What is Angular?’, ‘What is RestApi?’, ‘What is a Micro Service?’ What is ‘dotnet core’ and is it .net or dotnet?, etc.

The Goal

The goal is to explain the technology or concept in a way, that a non-techie will understand it.  Depending on the topic, you may see a How To article post after a What is post.  If you enjoy the What is, you might get a kick out of How To! 🙂

Truth be told, it’s not just for you but it’s also for me.  I often find myself in a situation where I need to explain a technology or concept to friends, business associates or whoever and I need to do it in clear and descriptive fashion that doesn’t draw on more tech to explain it.

To quote Albert Einstein:

“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”

Talking about or in this case writing about a given topic will give me the opportunity to clear the cobwebs in the old noggin and prepare lucid, intelligent well thought out response (close enough for any My Cousin Vinny fans)!

With that I leave you with this, What is my next, What Is?
